Sell, trade in or swap: three ways to move a PS5 disc
A shop pays fast but low, a marketplace pays more but costs you time, and a swap turns a finished game into one you want. Here is how to pick.
Every finished disc on a shelf can go one of three ways. Each trades money against time and risk, so the right choice depends on what you want back.
Trade it in at a shop. Chains such as GameStop in the US and CeX in the UK, and local game shops everywhere, buy discs on the spot. It takes minutes and there is no risk, but it pays the least of the three, because the shop has to resell the disc at a profit. Store credit usually gets you more than cash.
Sell it yourself. Marketplaces such as eBay and Facebook Marketplace, or OLX in India, usually get you more than a trade-in. In return you write the listing, answer questions, pack and post the disc or meet a stranger, and pay any selling fees. Prices for the same game vary a lot, so compare finished sales, not asking prices.
Swap it. If what you really want is another game, a swap skips the cash step: no selling fee and no shop markup when you buy. The hard part is finding someone who has the game you want and wants the one you have. Loops solve that: with three players, A's disc goes to B, B's to C and C's to A, so everyone gets a game they want without a perfect two-way match.
Whichever route you take, grade the disc honestly, keep the case and cover sheet, and photograph the data side. Complete, honestly described discs sell and swap faster.
